seòladh-tillidh

seòladh-tillidh is a short film examining my personal identity in relation to the landscape of Scottish Highlands. Featuring poetic narration in the native Scottish Gaelic with English subtitles, the film tells an incredibly vulnerable, personal story.

This was my first ever attempt at making a film. Shot on Hi-8 tape to emulate the nostalgia of the early 2000s, the time in which Scotland became incredibly important to me, the grainy and warbled footage feels almost dreamlike. Paired with an original score, the film aims to take viewers on an emotional, nostalgic journey through the Highlands.

The film later went on to be screened at Whiteknights Studio Trail in Reading (2023), Manchester School of Art Film Festival (2024), Cinema Povera (2023) and was shortlisted for The Inspiration Award at the 2024 FilmG Awards.
